Status: Resident all year round, numbers often increase from 'irruptions' of birds into the uk.
Scots Names:
Robin Hawk, Sheldapple, Shell Apple
Size: 16 cm (6.5")
Habitat: Mainly conifer woodland, often seen around water on the edges of plantation as they come down to drink.
Food: Primarily conifer seeds
Breeding: Up to 20 000 breeding pairs
Call Note: Piercing 'chip chip' call, often in flight or when flocks land at the top of conifers. Range of other sounds.
Status: GREEN
