Hannahston Community Woodland
Hannahston Community Woodland lies between Drongan and the A70 Cumnock to Ayr road.
Hannahston
is a thriving community woodland, extremely popular with local walkers, dog
walkers, wildlife watchers and the local school.
A former mining site, the extensive oplanting over the years is now maturing
nicely, with mixed, varied woodland and a range of habitats
and species. With help from CSGN, we have been able to make further improvements
with the addition of new benches, interpretation
wildflower meadow sowing & enhancement and high level woodland education
provision with the running of a Forest School with experienced,
qualified leaders.
A range of organisations are utilising the site for both formal and informal education, skills improvement & community events and workshops.
